Lorde Reigns With ‘Yellow Flicker Beat,’ And More Singles This Week

Lorde, “Yellow Flicker Beat”
3 Stars

Lorde kills it once again with this haunting new single. It may start out slow, but the chorus soon proves it to be a song you can jam to, without losing the honesty that’s so characteristically Lorde. This song is refreshing, intimate, and has a great vibe.

Verite, “Weekend”

Verite is kind of like a cheerful Lana del Rey. You get the same quality of lyrics and emotion as Lana, but with an added boost. Verite is definitely on the rise and it’s because of songs like these—fun with great lyrics and a great sound. Not to mention it’s a great workout pump-up (it’s been tested).

Us The Duo, “Shake It Off”
3.5 Stars

Just when you thought this song would finally stop haunting you, Us the Duo, the adorable singing couple that began their career on YouTube, brings it back. They take out some of the cheesiness of T-Swift’s version and add in some soul and, surprisingly, their cover is just refreshing enough to make it feel like you haven’t already heard the song a million times.
