William Bolton’s Confidant “On My Mind,” Mumford & Sons’ ‘Snake Eyes,’ And More Singles This Week

William Bolton,  “On My Mind”

4 stars

In “On My Mind,” Bolton plays to his strengths: his ability to construct a contagious, creative melody, his high-end production skills, and his confident performance persona. “On My Mind”—with it’s upbeat, soulful grooves—is a must-add to any summer playlist.

Mumford & Sons, “Snake Eyes”

3 stars

“Snake Eyes” has some great peaks and builds, as Mumford is apt to do. But it doesn’t quite justify the band’s change of direction from banjo to electric—it sounds like anything else they’ve ever written, just on electric instruments.

Allen Stone, “Upside”

5 stars

Allen Stone returns with a single from his upcoming and long-awaited Radius album. “Upside” is soulful, fun, and smooth, displaying Stone’s top tier vocals and capturing his unique ability to harness the energy of performance even in the studio.
