Boston College volleyball has four games remaining before conference play begins on Sept. 26, and a loss has yet to stain its record.
The Eagles have won 24 sets, while their opponents have won just three—one of which came in the Eagles’ Saturday evening 3–1 win over Dartmouth in the BC Invitational.
Highlighted by Audrey Ross’ 15 kills and Anna Herrington’s 12, BC (8–0) came out victorious in its Red Bandanna game with a four-set win over the Big Green (2–4).
The Eagles jumped out to an early 4–0 lead in the first set behind kills from three different players and a service ace. BC snagged a seven-point lead before Dartmouth reached double digits, allowing them to play their game and force errors on the opposite side of the net.
The final four points of the set were earned off Dartmouth service errors, giving BC a 25–16 win to stay undefeated in the first set this year.
The Big Green answered with fire, earning an early four-point lead of its own to begin the second set. Dartmouth stayed hot, gaining an 8–1 lead.
BC, as it has all season, stayed level-headed and never really let things slip away, though. The Eagles kept in a two-point range near the midpoint of the match, but eventually lost their third set of the year 25–19, allowing Dartmouth to tie the match at 1–1.
The third set looked as though Dartmouth was hungry for more, but the Eagles seemed to have taken their second-set loss personally.
After a kill from Dartmouth tied the game 12–12, BC rattled off a 13–5 run to end the game behind seven kills from six different Eagles.
Consecutive kills from Sequoia Layne and a Bella Ehrlich ace gave BC the momentum to start the fourth set, and the Eagles had as high as a four-point lead in the first half of the final set.
But the Big Green stayed competitive and tied the game up at 10–10 and 12–12. But then the rock began to roll down the hill for Dartmouth, and it never stopped rolling.
Another kill from Lynch, an attack error, and back-to-back kills from Herrington pushed BC to a 16–12 lead. Another three attacking errors on Dartmouth’s side proved costly, and the Eagles never looked back.
BC did not lose another point for the remainder of the game, and it rumbled its way to a dominant 25–12 win to remain undefeated.
