Freshman Forward Idy Diallo Suffers Torn Meniscus

Boston College men’s basketball has been dealt another setback before its season opener tonight, as freshman Idy Diallo tore his meniscus earlier this week in practice, BC Athletics confirmed this morning. There is no talk of surgery as of now, and the severity of the injury is still being evaluated.

The big forward featured prominently down the stretch of last week’s exhibition game and impressed overall. Showing loads of potential and raw talent, the inexperienced freshman looked to be a nice complement to Dennis Clifford’s style of play. With Diallo’s absence, Will Magarity and Eddie Odio will likely see even more minutes in the first few games.

Diallo joins Daryl Hicks and Lonnie Jackson on the injury list. In a teleconference for the Puerto Rico Tip-off, Christian confirmed that Hicks looks to be out for the season after a second knee surgery. Jackson is day to day with a calf strain and is fighting to get back as soon as possible.
