Eagles to Play Central Michigan in 2017 Home Game

Boston College fans got a treat when opening their email today.

On Thursday afternoon, BC Athletics released a statement offered season tickets for purchase to fans for the 2016 season. But as part of the offer, on its website, the department announced that BC will play Central Michigan in a home game in the 2017 season, a previously unannounced out-of-conference game. The department has confirmed that the game against Central Michigan is a one-and-done deal, meaning that, unlike recently scheduled OOC games such as the 2018-2020 series against Purdue or BC’s ongoing 2015-2017 series against Northern Illinois, BC will not have to make a trip out to Mt. Pleasant, Mich.

The Chippewas have had four consecutive seasons at .500 or better, and have been to a bowl in each of their last two, both losses. It wasn’t long ago, however, that the MAC school was a powerhouse. Central Michigan went 12-2 in 2009 under head coach Butch Jones, who is now the head coach at Tennessee. BC has won all three of its games against the Chippewas: 43-0 in 2002, 31-24 in 2006, and 31-10 in 2009.

Fans can reserve their seats for 2017 at the 2016 price if they buy now. Other offers to fans include the “Eagles’ Nest” package, which allows a buy-one-get-one-free deal to those who purchase seats in the upper end zones: two season tickets for $199. Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) may purchase a seat for $99, a 33 percent decrease from the typical price. The two-year package has a 20-month payment plan, while the 2016 package has a 10-month one, all starting at $199.
