Junior Matthew Evans Awarded Goldwater Scholarship For Bio Research

Matthew Evans, A&S ’15, was recently awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, one of the most prestigious scholarships in the country given to an undergraduate student studying science and mathematics. The scholarship is named after Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater and is intended to encourage students to pursue graduate work and research in these areas.

Franco Wins Romero Scholarship

Jessica Franco, A&S ’15, who is studying economics, theology and international studies and is a mentor through the Learning To Serve program, won the 22nd Annual Archbishop Oscar A. Romero Scholarship Award on March 29. Franco, who was one of three finalists, won a scholarship of up to $25,000.

Relay For Life Aims To Top Last Year’s Fundraising

Cancer never sleeps, and on Friday night, neither will over 1,000 Boston College students, professors, alumni, and friends. From 6 p.m. on March 28 to 6 a.m. the next day, the Flynn Recreation Complex will be filled with participants walking the track for BC’s seventh annual Relay For Life.

Packer Paints Portrait Of Struggling America

The Unwinding, which won the National Book Award for Non-Fiction in 2013, focuses on the stories of several Americans and their struggles to succeed in today’s disjointed society. Packer used these stories in order to tell the larger story of the institutional failures that took place in America beginning in 1978.
