The editorial board of The Heights is composed of a group of elected Heights editors. They are responsible for discussing and writing editorials, which represent the opinion of the newspaper.

Journalists don’t always own their bias. But at The Heights, it’s part of our motto. “For a Greater Boston College” means we want this University to do well. And for over 100 years, we have told the stories of this University and built dialogue that uplifts conversation on campus.
Boston College prides itself on addressing the full financial need of its students. It has an opportunity to further its commitment to supporting low-income families by joining the College Cost Transparency Initiative.
Boston College has a long way to go in creating a comfortable environment for queer students on campus. The University’s recent rollout of new resources for LGBTQ+ students is a step in the right direction. But, the administration took months to publicize this rollout.
The University has a laundry problem, and it has not taken steps to address it. On a scale rating the laundry experience at Boston College from 1 to 10 (with 1 being “I’m completely dissatisfied” and 10 being “I’m completely satisfied”), more than 60 students polled by a Heights survey gave an average satisfaction rating of 4.47 out of 10.
Boston College should develop creative solutions to maintain and continue improving diversity on campus after the top court’s decision to axe race-based affirmative action in college admissions.

The closure of Mount Alvernia High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Newton, provides Boston College with a rare opportunity to buy new land. The University should pursue this purchase to support its students, faculty, and any future expansion endeavors.
Following its disorganized supervision of this year’s UGBC presidential and vice presidential election, the Boston College Elections Committee needs to overhaul its sanctioning process and reassess its election day protocols.
