“To me, it’s an organization that’s interested in looking at the ways that we can help the world through a more critical lens,” Gardner said. “More specifically, it’s a program that’s hoping to look at the world through a lens of data and logic and reason to see where we can kind of make the most difference and affect the most lives in the most positive ways we can.”
“If you feel like you’ve done everything you ever wanted to do in your career, then there’s not really much more keeping you in skating,” Wiese said. “Because the only way you make it so far is if you actually love to do it, and you love going to practice every day because it’s very draining on your body and yourself.”
“Jesuit spirituality says, in the first week of the exercises, how loved you are by God,” McGowan said. “Lots of times we don’t use the gifts of God very well. You have something better that you should and could be doing. You can always be better than an addicted you.”
“By participating in a program like this, it really puts into words what many social workers are already doing in the communities,” Milton said. “It is able to frame their experiences in a way that is different from traditional westernized ways.”
“This is BC, not necessarily in the Black version, or the brown version, or the white version,” Frederick said. “It is part of the BC experience, so I wanted to raise that to, I guess, the general consciousness of the University.”
“You will be in a safe space, with the e-board team and even the other supporters,” Laytham said. “That’s what we really try to create—a safe space.”
“My sister and I are in a really good place,” Leddy said. “It doesn’t sound totally sane saying out loud, but it does feel that way sometimes. In my heart, we did this together. I wouldn’t have been able to beat the odds of publishing a book if I didn’t have her permission.”
“I mean, it’s me, myself, and AI. It’s a very human-focused show.”
“We don’t have time for these stereotypes—these harmful stereotypes—to just fade out over time,” Lego said.
“I really love helping people realize they can sew,” Garrett said. “I think it’s really exciting because it’s like something so creative, which I think a lot of college students don’t have time for in the traditional sense.”
