A combination of travel bans and immigration restrictions imposed by the Trump administration in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic is making it unlikely that international faculty and students will be able travel to the United States in time for the start of the fall semester.
Students and administrators discussed faculty and academic affairs at the second Student-Administrator Forum of the semester on Wednesday. The focus of the evening was the faculty hiring process.
“Even as we have probably more older faculty, that’s been offsetted by all the new faculty that we’ve hired,” said Vice Provost for Faculties Billy Soo.
“You have to be careful in bringing in new faculty, because once you commit to them, they could be here 30, 40 years,” said Vice Provost of Faculties Billy Soo.
Despite an endowment decrease of $150 million in fiscal 2016, BC’s chief investment officer John Zona made $1.31 million.
