After an impeachment resolution was sponsored against him for a Facebook post, Steve DiPietro resigned from UGBC, and Matt Batsinelas joined him in solidarity against what they claim to be a Student Assembly intolerant of differing viewpoints.
UGBC Issues Statement Clarifying Proposed Impeachment Resolution
“This past [Saturday], a few senators sent out a resolution to the Student Assembly that brought forward articles of impeachment against Former Senator Stephen DiPietro who was Former Director of the Mental Health Committee,” the statement read.

“If you supported diversity of opinion, you’d have spoken out against those who harassed Batsinelas and Mancini, who actively supported different opinions on campus, for breaking from commonly accepted beliefs during their campaign last year, or perhaps you’d have condemned the individual who asked friends to literally treat Michael Proietta like a toilet because of his ‘controversial’ opinions.”
Student Assembly Passes Resolution on Extending Meeting Time
This resolution would amend current UGBC standing rules by allowing senators to motion to extend meetings by however long they deem necessary to conclude a discussion on an issue at hand.
Elections Data Shows Variation by School, Class
This year, 750 freshman, 988 sophomores, 665 juniors, and 515 seniors voted. That means that over 42 percent of the class of 2020 voted, followed by 31 percent of freshmen, 29 percent of juniors, and 22 percent of seniors.
