“What inspired me to write was a growing sense that we were losing sight of the idea that college could be and should be a space for exploration,” Higgins said. “I was starting to see this attitude that was kind of this culture of you're supposed to pick a lane and put on the gas.”

“I didn't expect to stay in Tanzania,” Howe said. “Everywhere you look there’s opportunity, right? There’s just so much that could be done. And so I just fell in love with Tanzania and just all the potential that I saw.”

“We got over 500 impacted people to come through, and they were able to get so many clothing items, shoes, ranging from brand new to only very gently used,” Kreisberg said. “And that was a big thing that we wanted to kind of emphasize. These people impacted needed and deserve the best quality of things.”

“From a societal perspective, elder financial abuse is a very large issue,” Yi said. “It results in around two billion dollars of losses for seniors every year.” 

“The church, as Pope Francis insists, is like a field hospital, where you must do what needs to be done,” Barbosa said. “Pope Francis calls us to foster a culture of encounter—meeting those different from us, learning from them, welcoming them, sharing meals, healing their wounds, helping them, and integrating them.”
