FOOTBALL: Deuce Was Loose Against Virginia Tech

After sitting out for the middle chunk of the season, Deuce Finch returned to the backfield in a big role on Saturday against Virginia Tech. Finch brings the speed and necessary thump to move the chains, and that’s what he did. He rushed for 138 yards on 26 carries for a 5.3 yards per carry average. Finch also led the Eagles with five receptions for 53 yards, all on swing passes or screens.

It may still be hockey time at Boston College, but football season isn’t far off. With the bubble over Alumni Stadium finally gone, the Eagles turn their attention to the 20th annual Jay McGillis Spring Game, which will be played this Saturday at 1 p.m.

Nobody in Scott Stadium could figure it out. No one – reporters, fans, coaches, and administrators – knew exactly who was responsible for making the play. But everyone on Boston College’s side sure was glad that somebody did.
