The Boston College Police Department issued a Community Awareness Bulletin this week disclosing the alleged assault of a female BC student. According to the bulletin, on June 8, the student “was approached by two white males who physically assaulted her” sometime between 9 and 9:45 p.m. while she was walking on the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. The Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating the incident.
The perpetrators are reported to be in their late 20s to early 30s, and one is said to have had a Boston accent. The student described one of them as wearing jeans and a hoodie but, according to the bulletin, was unable to give any further details.
The bulletin asks that students avoid walking alone at night, encouraging them to utilize Eagle Escort and not to take shortcuts through dark areas.
Chief of BCPD John King confirmed with The Heights that there was no further information available with regard to the incident as of June 19. According to King, BCPD will support the State Police in the ongoing investigation.
This appears to be the first report of an assault near the Reservoir since the mid-2000s. Last year, an incident was reported to the police but a language barrier led to a miscommunication, and the woman who was hurt was actually just struck by a falling tree branch, not assaulted with a tree branch by two men as was initially reported.
