Boston College tapped Rebecca Cegledy to serve as the new associate athletics director for campus recreation, according to BCEagles.com. Her responsibilities will include management of the Margot Connell Recreation Center, the University’s most recent addition to campus life. She will also oversee the 44 intramural leagues and 27 club sports at BC.
“Becca Cegledy has been a valuable member of our team for the past five years and has played a vital role as we transitioned from the William J. Flynn Student Recreation Complex to the Margot Connell Recreation Center,” BC Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond told BCEagles.com.
Cegledy, who earned her MBA from the Carroll Graduate School of Management in 2018 alongside a certificate in human resources from the Woods College of Advancing Studies, worked as BC’s associate director of facilities and operations for the past five years, according to BCEagles.com.
“I would like to thank Martin Jarmond and [Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration] Vaughn Williams and the Boston College Administration for the opportunity to continue to strengthen BC’s commitment to developing the whole person through athletics and recreation,” Cegledy said to BCEagles.com. “The Opening of the Margot Connell Recreation Center marks an exciting time on the Heights. I look forward to leading the Campus Recreation team and collaborating with our campus partners to foster new experiences that will positively impact not only our students, but the entire BC community.”
Before coming to the Heights, Cegledy was the assistant director for member services and marketing in the University of Maryland’s department of recreation and wellness.
She also holds a degree in human ecology and a Master’s in sport and exercise management from the Ohio State University.
Cegledy replaces Caitorina Taylor, who held the position from 2011 to 2018.
