As the semester winds down and finals approach, it’s easy to get caught up in the stress and pressure. But with just over two weeks left, the weather finally feeling like spring, and tons of on-campus events coming up, this stretch has the potential to be one of the best times of the year.
Looking for something fun to do with friends? Need a break from studying? Is your bank account running a little low toward the end of the semester? Good news—the final weeks of the semester are packed with fun (and free) events on campus.
UGBC Movie Nights
For a fun and relaxing break from studying, head to O’Neill Quad on April 30 at 7:15 p.m. for an outdoor movie night put on by UGBC. In addition to the movies, there will be free food, drinks, and giveaways.
Arts Festival
The Boston College Arts Festival, running from April 24–26, showcases the creative talents of BC students, featuring music, dance, theater, visual arts, and more. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy some incredible performances and celebrate the arts at BC.
Fresh Fest
Freshmen, head over to Newton Campus on Friday, April 25, from 5–7 p.m. for Fresh Fest, a fun celebration to cap off of your first year at BC. You and your friends can play some lawn games, relax by firepits, enjoy some free food and merch, or even tackle an obstacle course! It’s a perfect opportunity to have some fun with your friends before finals and summer break.
CAB Events
The Campus Activities Board (CAB) is hosting a variety of fun events during this final stretch of the year. All week, they’re offering free activities like bouquet making, indoor rock climbing, a doughnut food tour, pottery classes and more, both on and off campus. Keep an eye out on CAB’s Instagram and emails for updates on upcoming events.
The McMullen Museum’s “Wonders of Creation” Exhibit
While not an official event, the McMullen Museum’s “Wonders of Creation” exhibit is on display through the end of the semester. Make sure to head over and see it before it is gone! This excellent collection features a variety of works from the Muslim world and beyond, and includes paintings, sculptures, and historical artifacts. Admission is free for all BC students, so if you’re looking for an educational (and free) outing, just cross Comm. Ave. and see some art.
ALS Awareness Game at Fenway Park
Head down to Fenway Park on Sunday, April 27, to watch BC baseball take on the University of Miami. Tickets are just $15, and proceeds benefit the Pete Frates Foundation, a nonprofit committed to helping ALS patients and their families manage the expenses of specialized care. You and your friends can have a great time while also supporting an important cause!
Mudstock and Modstock
Finally, don’t miss two of the most highly anticipated events of the year: Mudstock and Modstock! On the last day of classes, head to the Mod Lot to watch the Mudstock volleyball tournament and enjoy live music at Modstock. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the end of the semester before diving into finals.
